Georgia Board of Private Detectives and Security Agencies Approved

Lesson Overview:

Pursue a career as a private investigator.This course meets the licensing requirements of the Georgia Board of Private Detectives and Security Agencies necessary to obtain a private detective and/or security agency license. Classroom instruction includes topics such as interviewing suspects and witnesses, how to conduct crime scene searches, computer and courthouse searches, police photography, and other basic information necessary to the private detective fields.

    About Your Instructor

Eddie Rogers

Eddie Rogers has over 25 years of security and law enforcement experience, FBI Certified Instructor, GBPDSA Certified Instructor​ and has been approved to train and certify contractors to USMS and ICE.

Some Requirement to Becoming a P.I. in Georgia

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Have integrity and a good moral character

  • Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident entitled to work in the U.S.

  • No convictions for felonies, crimes involving weapons, or crimes of moral turpitude; however considerations will be made on a case-by-case basis

  • Have not committed any acts of fraud or dishonesty

  • 2 years prior licensed as a private investigator (apprenticeship)

  • 2 years of experience as a law enforcement officer

  • 4-year criminal justice (or closely related) degree

  • $44,900

  • — PIs earn an average of $44,900 a year in the Atlanta market with the top 10% making $70,480 (Bureau of Labor Statistics).

  • 17.5% Growth

  • — PI jobs in Georgia are expected to grow by 17.5% through 2020 (Bureau of Labor Statistics).

 

Certificate of Completion:
 

Upon successful completion of this course the student will receive a certificate. Successful completion of this course is based on three primary requirements:

  1. 1. Students must attend a minimum of 80% of the course without penalty

  2. 2. A passing score of 80% must be achieved on a comprehensive final exam
    Students that do not successfully complete the course may not receive credit from the State Certified instructor per Georgia State Board Rule 509-3-.06.
