Children in the early adolescent years (12-14 years old) are in a vulnerable period when they are more likely to join a gang, however children as young as third grade are recruited.
Why do kids join gangs?
Adolescence is a time in life when children begin to define their own identity. Many seek out new peer groups as a means of gaining acceptance.
Symbols and Numbers:
Gangs members will wear or use certain numbers and symbols that represent their gang, set, or clique.
Recognizing Gang Symbols and Indicators
Gangs use colors, clothing, numbers, and symbols to identify members of their group and to communicate their membership to others.
Clothing Styles and Colors:
Gang members commonly use clothing and colors to show their membership.
Graffiti :
Gangs use graffiti to mark their territory and to communicate with or challenge other gangs.
Hand Signs:
Some gangs use hand signs to show loyalty to a gang and to challenge or disrespect rival gang members.

The student understands and agrees that The National Law Enforcement Academy has the right to refuse to provide training to anyone, for any reason. Further, that the student, their heirs, administrators, executors, and agents, waive, release and hold harmless The National Law Enforcement Academy and its’ shareholders, directors, executives, mangers, employees, subcontracted companies, affiliates and authorized agents from any and all causes of action, including (but not limited to) third-party causes of actions, arising directly or indirectly, as a result of their submission of the completed enrollment application, their participation in The National Law Enforcement Academy training resulting from such application (or ensuing related employment activities), any and all activities (including “Acts of God”) during class, or from any and all other acts, errors or omissions related to their enrollment, my classroom training .
Risk and Injury:
Any prospective student wishing to take, any of the classes of this academy, understands that these classes carry with them a significant risk of injury. Courses involving firearms, impact devices , defensive tools, and/or physical restraints all carry an enhanced risk of injury, due to the need to conduct live-fire training, and dynamic defensive activities that may bend, twist or pin the body in ways that may induce temporary pain, or severe discomfort. Students participating in courses involving defensive spray devices understand that they will be exposed to the chemicals of the spray devices. Students who are asthmatic or otherwise have respiratory conditions are advised not to take such courses involving defensive sprays without prior approval from their physician. All students, by registering for courses in this academy, understand, acknowledge and accept such risks. Any prospective student who is, or reasonably believes that they may be, allergic or acutely at risk of physical harm, due to anything presented at any course, is prohibited from registering in that course, and should not attempt to take that course.The National Academy Law Enforcement Training Academy Reserves the right to cancel classes due to inadequate number of registrants
Policy and Procedures:
NO CELL PHONES, AUDIO, VIDEO OR STILL PHOTOGRAPHY IS ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM OR ANY PRACTICAL EXERCISE OR RANGE. OR CELL PHONES, AUDIO, VIDEO OR STILL PHOTOGRAPHY IS ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM OR ANY PRACTICAL EXERCISE OR RANGE. CLASS BEGINS PROMPTLY ON THE HOUR. EACH TRAINEE MUST COMPLETE EVERY SCHEDULED HOUR OF EVERY SCHEDULED SESSION AS IT IS SCHEDULED. ANY TRAINEE WHO DOES NOT COMPLETE EVERY SCHEDULED HOUR OF EVERY SCHEDULED SESSION RISKS FORFEITING HIS OR HER COURSE FEE. TARDINESS WILL BE UNACCEPTABLE.
